VITALOK™ Cooking Guide

Although suited for any cooking style, the iCook™ Stainless Cookware is especially designed for the VITALOK cooking method.

Here is general information to help you better understand the VITALOK Cooking Method;

  • Precision manufactured iCook Stainless Cookware lids fit snugly onto the shoulder of the pan to form a water seal
  • When cooking is underway, a vapour is formed from the natural moisture in the food. As the vapour condenses, a thin film of water collects between the cover and pan
  • This water barrier combines with specially weighted and fitted lids maintains the tight seal during cooking
  • Rising vapours and juices continue to condense on the inside of the lid and circulate back to the food. This thoroughly bastes food in its own natural juices
  • Meats can be cooked without adding water or oils
  • Fresh vegetables and fruits typically contain enough moisture to cook without added water. Simply place rinsed vegetables in utensil and pour in 60 ml water. This is sufficient moisture for VITALOK Cooking.
  • Preserves flavour and nutrients lost as compared to foods that are boiled or cooked at too high temperatures
  • Additional water is required for rice, pasta, dried cereals, dried fruit, dried vegetables and dried beans which have had their natural moisture removed. (Follow recipe or package directions for water measurement).
  • As an added feature, the VITALOK Cooking Method requires lower burner settings than traditional cooking methods, which saves energy.
  • The tight water seal and cookware construction allows food to stay warm longer without overcooking, even when meals are delayed
  • Lower temperatures requirements cut heat in the kitchen and save energy Foods stay warm longer when meals are delayed

Quality of Construction-OPTITEMP

Gentle, even heat distributionThe secret of good cooking lies in the ability of the utensil to conduct heat efficiently and evenly.

Your iCook Stainless Cookware has an OPTITEMP base, which has 3 layers of permanently bonded metal to promote uniform distribution of heat throughout the pan. Foods and sauces cook evenly. The extra thickness also helps pans retain heat longer than most single ply cookware materials.

Your iCook Stainless Cookware is crafted from special heavy-gauge stainless steel that is at least 18% chromium (for hardness) and 8–10% nickel (to resist corrosion).

The Convenience of Stack Cooking

Stack Cooking is a wonderful convenience feature of your iCook™ Stainless Cookware. You can prepare more foods at one time by stacking a small utensil on top of a larger pan utensil. Your Cookset is specially designed to provide the uniform heat distribution necessary for Stack Cooking. It is very easy once you grasp the essentials.
